Question:
In Daniel 11:37, is the phrase “desire of women” an expression from ancient Israel meaning that women wanted to be the mother of Messiah?
Dr. Fruchtenbaum's Answer:
A common misconception among Christians is that all Jewish women have or had the desire to be the mother of the Messiah, but this is not seen in any Jewish sources. The statement in Daniel 11:37 simply means that the Antichrist himself will not have the desire for women. This does not mean that he will be homosexual. Because he will be a supernatural product of Satan and born of a woman of Roman origin, he will be like the Nephilim of Genesis 6:1-4. These creatures were neither human nor angelic, and they could not reproduce. Because the Antichrist will be of the same type of origin, he will not be someone who can reproduce himself, and for that reason, he will not have a desire for women.
