Commentary Series: The Minor Prophets – Vol. 2
by Dr. Arnold G. Fruchtenbaum

In Volume 2 of his commentary on the Minor Prophets, Dr. Arnold G. Fruchtenbaum continues his detailed, literal exposition of the prophetic books, examining Obadiah, Jonah, Micah, Nahum, Habakkuk, and Zephaniah. As in his previous works, Dr. Fruchtenbaum engages not only the biblical text itself but also the rabbinic interpretations that have shaped Jewish understanding of these books for centuries. The inclusion of rabbinic material is a defining feature of Ariel publications, grounding interpretation in the historical and theological world from which the prophets emerged. In many cases, these rabbinic interpretations preserve early Jewish expectations about the Messiah, even when later conclusions diverge from the biblical text. For example, familiarity with rabbinic discussions surrounding Micah 5:2, including the identification of the Messiah as the "ruler," the concept of Yinnon, and the meaning of expressions such as "from everlasting" and "eternity past"-equips the reader to demonstrate why the Messiah of Israel must be both God and man.
Such insight is rarely encountered in standard evangelical commentaries, nor do most readers have the time or access required to research rabbinic literature independently. This volume, therefore, serves not only as a substantial resource for serious study of the Word of God but also as preparation for thoughtful, informed conversations with Jewish people who do not yet know the Messiah.
